Vote 08 Department: Agriculture Table 1: Summary of departmental allocation To be appropriated in 2025/26 R2 577 809 000 Responsible MEC MEC for Agriculture Administrating Department Department of Agriculture Accounting Officer Head of Department 1 OVERVIEW 1.1 Vision A thriving sustainable agriculture and agro-processing value chains driving inclusive economic growth and food security for all. 1.2 Mission To drive agriculture and agro-processing through inclusive partnerships, sustainable and innovative agricultural practises, promote local and international trade and biased towards commercialisation of smallholder farmers, through: %uf0b7 Sustainable livelihoods;%uf0b7 Support land reform for agricultural production;%uf0b7 Facilitating partnerships to commercialise and transformation of the agriculture sector;%uf0b7 Innovation, research, technology development to increase productivity and competitiveness;and%uf0b7 Access to opportunities for youth, women and other vulnerable groups.1.3 Core functions and responsibilities The core functions of the department are derived from the mandate which include, its support and promotion of Agriculture and Rural Development in the province.
