Table 3 above shows the summary of departmental receipts and collection from 2019/20 to 2025/26.
Revenue collected increased from R701.519 million in 2019/20 to a revised estimate of R762.414 million
in 2022/23. Revenue further increases by 4.5 per cent from the 2022/23 revised estimate to
R796.722 million in 2023/24. The bulk of revenue is from the tax receipts and is made up of motor vehicle
registration and licence fees as per the requirements of National Road Traffic Act. Motor vehicle licence
fees are collected on an agency basis through registering authorities, municipalities and South African
Post Office.

funds were used for the purchase of patrol vehicles, cattle trucks, speed equipment and road safety
education. RTMC had a balance of R290 thousand in the 2022/23 revised estimate.
