Payment for capital assets increased from R10.974 million in 2019/20 financial year to a revised estimate
of R13.170 million in 2022/23 due to the refurbishment of museum institutions. Capital spending will
increase by 4.8 per cent to R13.8 million in 2023/24 due to heritage projects which will be implemented in
2023. These include the memorials for Winnie Madikizela Mandela, S.E.K Mqhayi and Nkosana “Happy
Boy” Mgxaji.

Table 17 above shows the service delivery measures for Programme 2 – Cultural Affairs. The department
will continue to create job opportunities through heritage. Furthermore, the department will continue to
support the heritage institutions through subsidies.
